Getting started
Is it really free?
Yes. Every IELTS Reading and Listening paper is free, with your band and an answer review, and so are about 3,500 PTE questions. Our engine scores your first IELTS Speaking test, Writing Task 1 and Writing Task 2 for free. On PTE, it scores your first set of each question type it marks, like Describe Image and Write Essay. You also get one full mock exam with its scores. None of it is a trial that runs out.
Do I need an account?
Yes, but it takes one step: your email address or your Google account. No card and no password. Your results are saved, so you can come back on any device.
Does it look like the real test?
Yes. For IELTS it looks like IELTS on computer, with the same timer, question types, highlighting and review flags. For PTE the screens come in Pearson's order, the audio plays once, and the recording panel sits where it does on test day.
Where do the papers come from?
The IELTS papers are past papers from real IELTS Academic tests, marked against each paper's answer key. The PTE questions were reported by test takers from real PTE tests, and about 340 come from Pearson's official practice tests.
How long does a full mock exam take?
About 2 hours 45 minutes for IELTS, with Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking in one sitting, and about two hours for PTE.
What is the starting assessment?
A short test that shows where you are now: about 30 minutes for IELTS and 20 for PTE. You get a likely score range, the skill to work on first and a plan for your first week. You can skip it.
Can I use Leap Exam on my phone?
Yes. It runs in your web browser on a computer, tablet or phone. You need a microphone for speaking. For a full mock exam, use a computer, because the real test is on a computer.
Pro and payment
What does Pro add?
Unlimited marking for writing and speaking, a full written report on every mock exam, and unlimited full mocks. Our engine will rewrite your essay to get Band 9, or your PTE answer to get full marks. For PTE, Pro opens every question.
How much does Pro cost?
Monthly is 24.95 US dollars a month, and Annual is 174.95 US dollars a year. Both renew until you cancel. The 3-month pass is 62.45 US dollars, paid once, and it doesn't renew. One Pro purchase covers IELTS, PTE Academic and PTE Core. Checkout shows and charges the price in your own currency.
Are there sales?
Yes, and there's one on now. Monthly is 19.95 US dollars for your first three months, the 3-month pass is 49.95 US dollars, and Annual is 139.95 US dollars for your first year. After that, the normal price applies.
Can I cancel?
Yes, at any time, in Settings in the app. You keep Pro until the end of the time you paid for.

Does it cover the test they need?
Leap Exam covers IELTS Academic, PTE Academic and PTE Core. Universities and visas in Australia and the UK accept IELTS Academic and PTE Academic. For a UK visa, book the UKVI version, which is the same test. Canadian universities accept IELTS Academic and PTE Academic for study. For Canadian permanent residence or citizenship, take PTE Core.
Is it safe, and what data do you keep?
Leap Exam is for students aged 16 and over, or younger with a parent or guardian involved. Accounts and speaking recordings are stored in Australia, on AWS in Sydney. Recordings are deleted after 90 days. To mark speaking and writing, our engine sends answers to Google Gemini. The student can delete the account at any time in Settings.
Will I be charged again?
Only on Monthly or Annual, which renew until the student cancels. The 3-month pass is paid once and never renews, so it is the simplest choice when you are paying for someone else.
Can I pay for someone else?
Yes. Pro is bought from inside the student's account, so do it together: the student signs in, chooses a plan, and you enter your own card at checkout. The receipt goes to the email address on the student's account.
Can I get a refund if it is not right for them?
Yes, on the first payment. If you paid on the website, email hello@leapexam.com within 7 days of paying, with the email address on the student's account, for a full refund. App Store and Google Play purchases follow the store's own refund policy.
How can I see how they are doing?
Ask the student to show you their Home page. It shows their latest scores against the score they need, and every full mock gives a score report. Leap Exam has no separate login for family or friends.
