How it's scored — and what's free

Your answers are marked against the official answer key the moment you submit — spelling rules and all — and converted to an IELTS band from your raw score out of 40.

The score, and a question-by-question review of what you got right and wrong, are free. Add your email at the end to keep your results.

Common questions

Is this IELTS Listening practice test really free?
Yes. The full test, the band score, and the per-question answer review are free, and you can start without creating an account. Adding your email at the end simply saves your results so you can come back to them on any device.
Is it the same as the real computer-delivered IELTS test?
The runner reproduces the CD-IELTS experience: the audio plays once, questions are grouped exactly as on the paper, and you review and change answers within the timer. The papers themselves come from real past IELTS Academic tests.
How is the Listening band score calculated?
IELTS converts your raw score out of 40 into a band. Roughly: 30 correct is band 7.0, 35 is band 8.0, and 23 is band 6.0. This test applies the same conversion automatically the moment you finish.
Do I get a different paper if I practice again?
Yes — the paper is drawn at the start of each sitting from a pool of real past papers, so re-sitting gives you a fresh test rather than the same forty questions.
